Sweet conversation

When I was young, I used to love sweets. I would not miss any chance to grab them. My grandchildren too have the same habit. Recently, at a function, my grandchildren compelled me to take sweets. But I refused. They were surprised and asked for the reason.

I replied, “It’s true I used to love sweets, but I had taken too much of them during my earlier days. That is why doctors have now restrained me.”

When they continued to insist that I should take, I retorted: “It’s true that life is short and we should make it sweet. But one can do so without consuming sweets too.” They laughed and dropped the idea to compel me.
